I continue to be amazed. check this new service out. granted there aren’t too many cities yet and only a few cab companies but still another interesting progression of ideas. google has such a broad palette to work with. I sure various other local organizations may have had the ability to put together something like this on a local basis (King County Metro system has something similar called tracker but only with the buses and not nearly as smooth) but google will have the resources to implement this on the larger scale. i wouldn’t imagine this was that difficult to put together. the gps already exists in the cab companies in large cities through a better portion of the us. collect all the information and present in a nice little package that everyone will know about.

Interesting… it sure would be nice to see if the cabs have fares or not. Otherwise it may not be too useful. I definitely plan on checking the google labs site fairly regularly. I kinda like the idea of google compute although I find the idea of unknown processes running on my PC a bit scary.
Too bad all that Google stock I bought at $190 doesn’t reflect the potential of their “large pallet”. It might be irrational, but I plan on holding on to it.
Check out the new satellite images on google’s maps page (upper right corner). For some reason I couldn’t get a direct embedded link to work… XHTML formatting error…
i also noted this. my comment is on the sack page. to get the embedded link you need to click on the “link to this page” right beneath the “satellite” link
and for those of you who care, gmail now provides me with 2GB storage and the ability to send up to 10MB of images or whatever in one email
ahhhh… saw your comment on sack’s page just after i posted during my daily morning ritual of blog keepup…
