I’ve found an interesting plugin that will allow me to show on my site what I’ve listened to recently called WP-itunes. I was able to get it to work on my sidebar. Scroll down and to the right. That shows the last 10 songs I’ve listened to. I’m also trying to have an archive of the last 50 albums/songs I’ve listed to. However, I don’t really know how to get that to work. I’ve put the function on a static page but that does not work. Any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated. If it works, I’ll even send you a picture of my self. Hee hee.
Update Well. I’ve found this plugin, RunPHP. I’ll have to try it tonight and see if it works. It looks positive. I’ll have to give the picture to myself.
That is badass! How does it work? Does your iPod have to be plugged into your computer? Or, does it pull data right out of the iTunes software? For this to work, then, are you required to listen to your music through your computer? This looks like something that Bohnsack did.
You old hippie. Check out Bjarne’s new cowboy band here http://www.salvatore.no/lasso
big national day hurra here today. skål!
those norwegian cowboys are a dying breed.
There is a plugin for itunes that will log all of your songs that you play and then somehow, magically, uploads them to the WP-itunes plugin. You can get the plugin from the same site as the wp-itunes plugin. Yes, you have to play the songs through itunes. I’ve read about a plugin being able to download your songs played in your ipod but haven’t investigated it too much.
One other question, I also read that there are some security issues with running php in your posts. I didn’t get to read too much more about it but assume that this may be a concern if other people had the ability to submit posts (which nobody else does in my case). I’m under the assumption that the php script does not work in the comments ( that I would see as being a problem if it did work in the comments).
I have been secretly pining for a way to put my recently listened to music on my site. I was envious the moment it exisited on his site and knew , that if one day,I had a website, that was something I must have.
Ladies and gentelmen, Mr. Ron Carter!
I look forward to watching this chronicle unfold.
You’re right about the PHP security thing. You’ve nothing to worry about unless you allow PHP in your comments or maybe somehow you listen to a song with a title that is actually PHP code (depending on how the plugin is written).
I’d be happy to provide assistance. Just give me a call.
The plugin I used requires you to put the tags around any php code you want to use.
I think I’m going to reduce the front page one to the last album and then the link “Recent Tracks” is going to show the last 50 albums I’ve listened to. Definitely a learning process. I’ve got to figure out why the images aren’t showing up in the “recent tracks” page. I hoping that it is just that I need to show it where the image cache is located. And then a little formatting to make it look a little prettier.
