we had a bbq last sunday at angela and chard’s (top left of people photo) house. when grilling is on the menu at that house – no expense is spared for the delicious meals that ensue.
the meal consisted of some fresh kielbasa from a local polish deli, some homemade pirogies (lots of spelling variations on this one) (one stuffed with crimini and oyster mushrooms, the other with spinach and chicken sausage), a nice salad, and some watermelon. William showed up with some ribs (bottom right of people photo) and away we went. we finished it off with some cupcakes made by angela.
as a bonus you get a picture of me by the stump and some crazy old electrical wiring sticking out of their house.

If you and Megan ever find your way to NM I’ll make you guys the Ukrianian version of pirogies (pyrohies). Because the Ukrianians were a farmer/serf culture (note: even the Polish oppressed the Ukrianians), one would rarely find meat on the menu, so pyrohi would be usually stuffed with potatoes, dried curd cheese, or poppy seed. And, they’re made triangular, not half-moon shaped or square. Anyone who can make any cultural variety of pyrohi has my applause – it can be a time consuming labor of love and an activity not to be wasted on anyone but the best of friends.
sack probably wants to murder me. i’ve been promising to come down ever since he bought his house. flights to abq are always expensive and i am a cheap ass, but it will happen – really.
whew… luckily that exposed wiring is safely duct-taped… looks like code to me.
We are under the assumption that it is not hooked up to anything. There are two connections like this and then the third one appears to be the one with power to it. Plus, the house hasn’t burned down, yet.
Southwest Airlines Traveling Donkey Carts fly out of Seattle, Spokane, and Portland OR. Sometimes if you watch the Fun Fares they have relatively cheap flights. The only trick is you have to board their flights prepared with your own food arsenal. All they usually give out is beverages and buttery delicious club crackers.
BTW, I’ve heard Bohnsack loudly proclaim that he loves all of mankind.
SW currently has one ways to ABQ at $170 in aug and sept. that’s $340 plus taxes…ouch.
When I make pyrohies, I form them into the shape of the star fleet insignia. They are much doper that way, and everyone thinks I’m very clever.
Beef – here’s the post reply you requested. You should now have my email for future weekend grill-releated festivities. Drop me a line when you get a chance.
