everyone does it, so why not a get a few entries out of it. it’s the end of the year. so i’ll spend a few short moments of your time disseminating what i liked best in the year 2005.
these are cds i have purchased in 2005 and have enjoyed thoroughly. most of them came out this year – i think. they goodness also comes in no particular order.
lcd soundsystem – album by the same name – i picked this up soon after the new year began. two discs chuck full of dancy punk music. what the hell is that? good beats, excellent lyrics, self-deprecating humor. definitely a hit in my book.
mia – arular – Another new sound that excited my taste buds. A sri lanka born, english lass from london. The voice is what brought me in with the bizarre staccato beats and synth/keyboards blasting in my ears.
keb darge – various – this was probably my greatest discovery of the year. the last few years i have enjoyed my pursuit of all things funky and soulful. most things with horns bring me a great deal of pleasure. i picked this album up – the kings of funk – which had RZA from the wu-tang clan doing a set of funk and then keb darge doing the second set on the album. needless to say, i was excited by the music that keb darge had put together. i quickly searched the internets and dustygroove did not disappoint. He is definitely a crate digger, searching out lost gems from the 60s and 70s soul and funk glory days. He puts them together and releases them upon the unsuspecting minions. Not a day goes by where I don’t put some funky lovin’ on orchestrated by this man. I think it would be quite a treat to see him dj in london in the future.
j boogie – dubtronic science – crazy funky afro electronic beats. another tricked out funky explosions from the west coast. on of my first half must haves of 2005. it says it came out in 2003 but mine’s got a different cover than what is shown at the link. regardless an excellent addition to my collection in 2005
quantic – mishaps happening and pushin’ on – another dj who can put together a live afro funk band with the best of them. also calling london home, quantic puts together mean dj sets which incorporate the very best of soul, funk, and afro beat. he gets a little lonely and pulls a few friends together to from the quantic soul orchestra. another glorious addition to my world.
sharon jones and the dap kings – naturally
not enough can be said about soul sister #1. really she has got to be the hardest working woman in the business. the dap kings provide an electrified air behind her glory, bringing us all home to the promised land.
so i lied and had to put up a few more albums, but they are all worth it and definitely worth the investment if you at all enjoy a funky good time.
the next installment will bring you a taste of the five books/authors i enjoyed the most in 2005.

Least essential albums of 2005 …hee hee…
What a lot of self indulgent crap. Yeah your happy that you are happy. I am happy you are selling furniture as I love you guys. I am happy you are happy. Your couch sounds dreadful. I also find your website BORING but since I know you I kinda like it!
My hamster and cats are kind of fun but the kids seem to have no idea what you are saying. I like it that way so far.
Just saying.

This is a test
CJ 7 years old did laugh a few times but looked perplexed most of the time as I did.
I wouldn’t comment if I didn’t love and have a bitter streak.
isn’t that what a blog is all about? it’s more to keep track of things i’ve done and seen, otherwise they just begin to get lost in a vast sea of memories.
check out the soundboard on the side. now that is entertaining.
please beef… provide us with more of your self indulgent crap… it has been way too long since your last post. bohnsack has the same problem. are you two hiding out together in some undiclosed location?
