I’m always on the lookout for new podcasts to entertain myself. I, trying to be different or not the same as others around me, look for odd things that may not initially appeal to others in the realm of the living. John Hodgman has begun to provide me with that source of entertainment.
I first listened to him back in about November or December when he was pimping his new book – The Area of My Expertise – both on The Daily Show and The Sound of Young America. Quite funny with a dry sense of humor would be an understatement.
I was listening to KUOW on president’s day when they were playing Little Gray Book Lecture #34. The hour show ended with a funny diddy about all of the presidents written and sung by the show’s musical director, Jonathan Coultan. When I arrived home, I searched for the program, unaware of where I actually knew the names of the hosts, and was pleasantly suprised to find out that it was John Hodgman. The rest of the story goes, I downloaded the podcasts, which unfotuneately are only excerpts from the show, but still provides a pleasant sampling of the hilarity which ensues.
What I’m trying to say is a) if you live in the greater nyc area, keep your eyes open for the next Little Gray Book Lecture (the site isn’t really up to date but who knows) and b) check out the Little Gray Book podcasts.
