went to the vera project this evening and saw dan deacon. quite the entertaining show. part monologue part dance party usa part birthday party. lots of singing along to the pulsing beat. the highlight of the evening had to be “the gauntlet.” At least 100 people were in the room. His first instructions were for everyone to spread out in a big circle in the room. a short pause and then he voices his disapproval of the previous plan. He commands the doors to open and for us all to form two lines facing each other. The construction of the dance “gauntlet” has begun. the beat begans to throb and the front end of “the gauntlet” peels off and dances through the house that dance built. The song plays out as the last of the original “gauntlet” collapses and flips with glee through the welcoming arms. good times.
