It’s always wise to see the skerik/dillon/houser explosion over the holidays. The Dead Kenny G’s brought out the stars for a fun night at the tractor. The first was full of wackiness all over but the fun got started after the break. Maurice Caldwell Jr. stepped on stage for a funky must be santa with a little help from Chris Littlefield. Next, Gino from kultur schock whooped it up with some fantastic eastern european/middle eastern beats. Leif joined the stage shortly after from a west african melody go round, quite fantastic, probably the best part of the night for me. Followed up with some deep organ grooves from an organ player I didn’t recognize. Throw a little more Chris Littlefield throughout the whole second set. The night ended with horns blowing and the drums pounding.
as always, the holidays with skerik are nice.
i must thank mr. kirchmer for showing me the love. the following site has brought me endless amounts of joy in the past few months. hrad driving african soul, funk, and afrobeat dug from the depths of west africa. frank aka dj soulpusher followed his wife to africa in the not so distant past and went crate digging throughout west africa. nuf said. currently there are about 13-15 mp3 (60min-90min each) full of mind blowing african rhythms in all kinds of states of excitement.
he also documents some of his more hair raising experiences as he collects these valuable funk gems.
please for the sanity of us all. go visit.
