sweet sweet little otto is 6 weeks old today. nothing but loads of excitement. he’s had a few more firsts along the way. momma took him to happy hour last friday with diane and tiffany. otto got to go bowling with the cool kids on monday night. he;’s consistently getting into bath time these days, the water doesn’t bother him at all (the warm wash cloth on top and the warm water beneath don;t hurt things either.) a nice picture of momma and otto showing their displeasure with daddy taking too many pictures.
It’s always nice to get some action and some noise from the little baby. The first one is calm and in the crib. The second one is loud and at the bowling alley.
mmmmm. halloween. i chose lunchlady beef as my outlet this year. with halloween being on a wed, i got to dress up for bowling. the nice video shows my disappointment after a bad shot.
I’m sure all of you have been anticipating the beginning of another bowling season. The season started the week after Labor Day. The third week of the season was last Wednesday. For what ever reason, I’ve found the bowling touch early in the season. Previously, my high average had been 158 - solid and increasing each of the five previous years.
This season has started off well. It might be too good as expectations are raised and I have less of a handicap to help correct the mistakes I’ve made. After nine games, my average sits at 187. The first two games of the week looked like they were going to pull that average down a bit as I started with a 150 and a 160. But my brain finally kicked in at the end of the third game, every ball I threw was hooking a little bit too much at the end and hitting the left side of the pocket. I decided to speed my delivery up a bit to take away some of the hook and viola - I started hitting the pocket.
My previous high was 242 and it sat taped to my cubicle wall for the past year or so. I was lucky enough to eclipse that mark and roll a 257. The scanner is put away and I’m too lazy to get it out or I would scan in the line but instead I’ll recreate in print.

Sing the praises! I ended the game on an eight strike run. I was quite close as the 3rd and 4th frames were solid balls but I left the 10 pin (back right) each time. Finishing up my point from the first paragraph - after three weeks of bowling my average is going to be about 187 - talk about all downhill from here.
My greatest and most complete evening of bowling. It is pleasant to have the ball do my bidding for most of the evening. I especially enjoyed the five strikes to end the first game. We were able to go 6-2 for the week. We are down to the final 2 weeks and then no bowling until september.
And for accomplishing a 600 series with an average less than 160 - I get this wonderful prize!
the end comes closer. another week passes by. it was a consistent night but i couldn’t put enough strikes together to make it an excelleny night. I still enjoy bowling above my average every game which is currently 155.
Another disappointing week. Just two weeks ago we were in the hunt for the fourth playoff spot. two 0-8 weeks hace reduced the hunt to a prayer. our league is the ballard fraternal league with the majority of contestants over 50. we’ve struggled as of late. this week not being particularly good. look at my scores. i had the high game all three games this week. pathetic. but it is a long season 33 weeks, we are nearing the end with just six weeks remaining. the smmer break is always refreshing.
well here is the damage this week. i could just never get it going. constantly trying to adjust my throw. it started to come together the last game but at that point it was too late. i can’t decide if it was too many or not enough high life’s.
I belong to a bowling league these days. Actually for, i think, 5 glorious years now. most of the combatants on my team have worked with me in the past. i’ve have increased my level of play over the 5 years. we finally got to the point where we don’t lose every week. the season is grueling. 33 weeks of bowling every wednesdy night. the only time we get off is when either xmas eve, xmas, nye, or new years falls on a wed. the first 10 weeks are great after the long summer break with no bowling, but now we are in the home stretch, only 8 weeks left.
I think we are currently tied for fourth but things did not go in our favor this evening. We lost all three games and total pins. We could fall to sixth or seventh in the standings. My first game was pitiful but i managed to pick it up in the second two games. Underneath the three bowling lines are my current stats for the year.
