wheee. Here is a shot of an almost smile. If I would of taken the picture a fraction of a second a later I would have got the real deal. But use your imagination, it’s almost there!
The video has some changing table action. A little meep, meep, then a few smiles, a few more noises as poppa tries to tickle Otto, and then the sticking out of the tongue in the last 20 seconds.
Wheeeee! Babies!

I got to take a field trip out to the Cedar River last week. This where a majority of Seattle’s water comes from.
The first picture shows some salmon hanging out, waiting to make their moves.
Next, is the masonry pool.
Which is damned by the Masonry Dam.
Which is fed by Chester Morse Lake.
They all flow down Upper Cedar Falls.
And are all surround by trees.

Forest fun!
We also took a stop by the fish passage and got to see some chinook, coho, and steelhead hanging out waiting to go up the pescalator. Which was installed as a part of Seattle’s Habitat Conservation Plan. If you can hold on (or fast forward) to the last 20 secs, it’s a salmon party!
The last week and a half brought some new added excitement. A few more firsts were accomplished along the way. Otto went on his first ferry ride to Bainbridge Island to attend his first art opening for Karin Schminke. Pease also got his grubby little paws onto Otto on the ferry ride back. He experienced the true joy of a baby having a bowel movement!
Josie, Neel, and Rowan came over for dinner the following night. Tiberious considers himself a baby so he fir right in with the other two. Rowan is on the left, otto is in the middle.
Momma and Otto cuddling on the couch.
Anya and Axel had a party out on Lake Washington last weekend. Momma Pease was at it again. Also a nice full moon rising near dusk.
otto and i getting some quality time watching football together. He’s also giving me a few pointers on how to drink my beer.
after the morning game, we headed out to Deirdre and Patrick’s house on vashon. That was glorious. On the water, mid 70s. So close, yet so far.
Move forward another week. Otto appears to be able to focus on things a little farther out in his field of vision. Highlights for his week were a BBQ at Chard and Ang’s and then an afternoon at Bumbershoot. More cooing and strange odd noises. I’m trying to get him to work out by giving him some more tummy time. He’s ok with it for a little while, then he voices his displeasure. also an action shot of 1 Mr. Hodin. Tra la la, on with the images.

I’ll update as I see fit.
more pictures! the last week and a half saw megan’s sister amy and her daughter cece depart back to Vermont. It was a good visit.
As always, lots of pictures of me. I need to get more shots of momma and Otto. I also need those elusive action shots of Otto. However, he’s not one to go along at the moment. He’s got a few modes of operation - eat, sleep, poop….. He definitely likes momma’s touch.
He’s still a little peanut but our rough estimations have him up in the mid-7s for weight. He’s getting pretty good at craning his neck around when he’s put in such a position. Megan’s got the baby bjorn working and takes him out for walks around the neighborhood during the day.
some people pointed out that the wedding post about scott and diane had no pictures of scott and diane and no mention of diane. that should be taken care of with this post. we showed up at scott’s sunday afternoon, enjoyed a light breezy sunny day. some small talk and we were under way. as anyone knows a wedding with tim osumi is a wedding with words ( a wedding with words, who has ever heard of such a thing!) as always we were save from the terrorists and full of good humor. we had dual officiators form the Universal Life Church, which one i’m not quite sure, but I’m sure they are all good.
We were blessed with a quick exchange of vows. I think Tim was nervous, he couldn’t tell Diane and Scott apart. Witness a picture of the happy couple.
let’s thrown out another picture of otto with the three of us on the back porch
we drank some champagne and headed down the street to the local chinese place for some dinner. When we drove by it early - I thought for sure it was called the “Yummy Cake” restaurant. It would have been funnier if that was the case but alas. The food was quite tasty.
…and one final picture of the wedding party at the restaurant.
well, well, well… our good friend mr scott bellman was married this afternoon. good times were had by all. i present you with one image from today’s festivities.
edit, more picture fun
Another wonderful week of all things Otto. His stump fell off on Friday.
Sunday had us all going to see Sharon Jones at the Woodland Park Zoo. It was a little chilly and rain threatened most of the time we were there but it was still a relaxing afternoon to list to soul sister #1.
Amy and Cece arrived from Vermont on Wed. just in time for my birthday celebration.

two good scenes. clean diaper and full baby and happy momma.
and finally, party at axel and anya’s! brain’s dad is also in town for a spell. it’s been a while since someone has braided my beard

and here’s a movie of lucas doing a little dance.
a break from the babyness. more to resume shortly.
get your war on has been a fun strip for awhile, it started after 9/11 and runs in the stranger most weeks. well now, they had it animated by 23/6. good times. probably shouldn’t play it at work through your speakers, a little bit of the potty mouth. maybe go to the original link above. i had to cut a little bit to make it fit in my column width.
Wheee. It’s been a couple days since more pictures. I know everyone is waiting in anticipation. Otto has gotten out some more. He got to go down to Alki and have lunch at Cactus. He took a trip over to the house that Grandma and Grandpa Miller are staying at while we are here. Otto also got his first visit to Ang and Chard’s house last night. This afternoon he gets to go hear Sharon Jones for the second time. The first time he was only 6 weeks from conception. Other than that, he;s been doing the typical baby things - eating, sleeping, and pooping. He’s pretty good at all three things. Who knew having a baby would be this much fun! (Heh, listen to me talk after just 10 days.)
here are a few more pictures from the last couple of days. Along with a video of Otto kind of in action.

Otto got another trek into the wild. This time without the threat of a doctor’s visit over his head. A walk through Lincoln Park and a trip to the Nouveau Bakery. Megan’s moving a little faster and feeling better everyday. The stroller is a wee bit too big but he still straps in quite nicely. What a wonderfully overcast day for late July!

Mike and terry rolled into town today to meet little Otto. Originally, they plannes to be here a week or so before Megan’s due date so they could enjoy a little bit of achy and cranky Megan. Otto had other ideas. He wanted to make sure the Millers got a good welcome and decided to join the party. Not a whole lot of excitement today, just cooing at Otto, changing some diapers, and sitting on the back deck with Mike and Terry.
We have our obligatory momma and Otto picture. Then, the individual and the together pictures.

At July 17, 2008, 8.25 AM, Otto Miller Thorberg burst into the room. Making things brighter for all of those around. It was an interesting process to say the least. Water broke at 12.30 AM, we went to the hospital about 4 AM, Megan was getting ready to push at 7 AM. Dr. checked the baby one last time before the push and declared “That’s not it’s head!” He seems to have tricked us all these last few weeks. Breech baby here we come. The staff whisked her off to the operating room and out he popped at 8.25 AM. Long and lean - 6lbs 0.5ozs and 19 inches.
These are all photos from the operating room. Otto getting cleaned up and ready to perform. Momma and Otto. The happy family. Why are you looking at me?

A video of his first bath and a vocal chord display. The wash cloth doesn’t please him much.
Finally, a picture of me and Otto. I realized. I need to take more pictures of Megan and Otto. I focused a little too much on Otto yesterday. Granted, Megan took this one today. More as things transpire. Things are progressing well and we’ll most likely get to go home on Saturday.
A friend of ours has a nice view of Elliot bay in West Seattle. On the hillside above admiral on the east side of west seattle. We got a good view of Elliot Bay, Lake Union, and most of the fire works in the area. I’ve got to say - Elliot Bay fireworks are lame compared to Lake Union. A lot more creativity seems to be a part of the Lake Union fireworks. But it may just be as simple as the budget each one has to spend. A few fireworks were also lit off the side of the deck. Luckily Aaaron has 5 decks so the launchers were able to isolate themselves from the rest of us. I have difficulties taking pictures at night, mainly because I have a shaky hand and only an adequate camera.
