I subscribe to Wax Poetics, a publication that deals with crate digging, funk, soul, hiphop, and the like. I read through each issue, commenting on the various things I should check out. But alas, my mind is not as strong as it once was and so I forget all these lovely suggestions. Now that I am given an hour a day on the bus, I have started to go back through the issues and write down some of the artists, albums, and labels that seem to be noteworthy of further exploration.
I’ll try to provide links for the various things I find and you can, if you like, check them out yourself. Each issue contains quite a bit more areas to explore, these are just the ones that I am less familiar with or have had my interest reignited in them after I saw an article or an ad for them.
Lucky you, there is no particular order to my madness. I think I have all issues but 3 out of the 37.
So long since words or pictures have been written here. There are a few draft posts that haven’t made it but maybe for another time. Otto has begun to enter the bipedal world he was destined for. It is a marked transition. Since our house is all one floor, steps aren;t a problem and he can sprint around the house all he wants. Granted, walking on the couch sets my heart a flitter.
…i used to post stuff to this website. Now, i am lax with all my ramblings and postings over on the facebook. But here are a few photos and videos from the past month or so.
This is going to be a pretty simple post with lots of pictures. We went down to Monterey this last weekend to help Terry celebrate her birthday. Otto loved all of his new adventures and gramma Terry got to shower her favorite grandson with love and attention. It was nice to hang out by the ocean and the sun. I’d like to go there again. US Open at Pebble Beach in 2010 anyone?
An interesting weekend. Otto got sick for the first time. Not sick as in a fever but a stuffy nose. He didn’t seem to deal with it very well Saturday night. Didn’t get more than a couple hours of sleep that night. However, Sunday morning, mama got the saline drops and we squeegeed some of the snot out wit the aspirator and he was feeling a little better today. To get out of the house for a bit, we wandered over to the park and got some good swing time in. Regardless of how stuffed up he was, the swing definitely makes him giggle and laugh every time. I also got a new camera over the weekend and have been trying it out. Overall, a much better experience as my last one had seen a lot of wear and tear. It’s nice to see crisp clean images again. This camera appears to take much better sound with the video.
Instead of posting them here, I’ve started to host my videos at Vimeo. More storage and they don;t get compressed as much it seems. So enjoy these if you are bored or just want to see more of Otto.
I also did some salting/pickling of meat and vegetables this weekend. Got started on corning 12lbs of brisket for the St. Patrick’s Day Cribbage Tournament. Also feling a little saucy, so i’m doing a batch of refrigerator pickles withe cukes, carrots, beans, and sweet peppers.
I know. No new posts of Otto in a while. most of my activity has been on facebook. But one of my many photo endeavors has been to try and capture Otto at dinner very night. It doesn’t happen all the time. He seems to enjoy the camera. He hears the beep when it goes on, he lights up, and turns toward the camera. Although, dinner time he’s not so happy sometimes. He’s tired and at the end of his rope. He just wants to be fed, take a bath, and go to bed. Here are the first few photos in the set.
